The Dominique tin deposit was found by Shell in the late 70’s. They drilled about 50 DDH’s and outlined a deposit in 3 zones with high potential for tin and polymetallic mineralization. Curvier Mines Ltd. In 1982 based on reanalysis on the Shell drilling assay data determined an inferred resource of ~ 2.5 mt @0.25 to 0.35% Sn. Later analysis and drilling by the Dept. of Mines determined that the Dominique Sn-Zn-Cd-In deposit consists of cassiterite and Cd-In-rich sphalerite and argentiferous galena.
Baldwin in 1985 suggested that there is potential on the Dominique Property for the existence of several pipe-shaped bodies (plumes) of commercial tin mineralization. The grad of mineralization could be in
the 1% tin range with by-product values in silver, zinc, lead and copper. The reserve potential of an individual pipe would be as much as (5) million tonnes.
In the 1991 drilling by the Dept of Mines the DDH’s were capped and in 2020 The GOLDFIELDS Group obtained funds to conduct a BHEM survey on DDH 91-4. The type of survey is able to detect conductive zones up to 50m beyond the bore hole. A very large highly conductive zone (plate) was detected 25 to 75m beyond the EOH. Could this be one of Baldwin’s suggested “pipes”? The Report is attached.
